About Me
❤︎ Get to know me and the story behind Anamated Nails ❤︎
Anamated Nails, previously known as Acapolish, was unknowingly created 12 years ago during a time of grief when I lost my mother, Ana Maria, to cancer. My fondest memories of my mother are of her painting her nails a bright red on her naturally shaped stiletto nails.
Painting nails and creating nail art is a way to keep her memory and most importantly, her legacy, alive. During this time of grief, I revisited my love for anime and could draw parallels from these heartfelt stories to my actual life - something I feel a lot of us do which is why we come to love anime/cartoons. It’s not just about the stories. It’s about the life lessons. How they relate to different aspects of our own lives and tap into those emotions/experiences. That is why One Piece is a significant inspiration for my brand - the storylines, values, and themes it portrays resonate with me.
And so, Anamated Nails was created - inspired by my mother’s name and love for anime. This space will be filled with art that connects to an experience. It tells a story. A story that is uniquely yours, empowers you to feel confident and step into your main character moment.
Hi! My name is Diana and I am so thrilled to go on this nail journey with you all.
A little bit about myself: I was born and raised in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania and moved to Canada, where I’m currently based, to pursue my BA in
Psychology. I'm a millennial Aries baby out here trying to heal generational trauma and pursue her dreams of being free.
I’m a daughter, sister, wife, friend, aunt, and furmom. I have 3 furbabies who are part of the Anamated Team: Luna, Bella and Koda. You’ll see them every now and then on our Instagram stories checking your orders to ensure it’s top quality!
My favorite:
❤︎ Anime is One Piece (a huge inspo behind the brand).
❤︎ Band is Coldplay (I finally got to see them live in Lyon in 2024 - best experience ever).
❤︎ Colour is red.
I started doing nails in 2013, the year my mom passed away, and haven’t looked back since. What started as a hobby, and coping mechanism, has now transformed into this small business.
The community that I wish to create with my small business is one where everyone feels heard, seen, valued, supported, and where we can express kindness and empathy towards one another regardless of our backgrounds - Just like Luffy and his crew do when they go on their adventures!
I am so excited to create sets that make you feel confident, beautiful and empowered to take on the day!
❤︎ Thank you for your trust in me and my work ❤︎
With love & gratitude,
Diana
